Welcome to Golden Liberty Doodles

Welcome to Golden Liberty Doodles Welcome to Golden Liberty Doodles

The Wonderful World of Goldendoodles

What Is a GoldenDoodle?

The Goldendoodle: The Best of Both Worlds

The Goldendoodle is a purposeful cross between the loyal Golden Retriever and the highly intelligent Poodle. This combination creates a "best of both worlds" companion, blending the gentle, people-pleasing nature of the Retriever with the sophisticated intellect and low-shedding qualities of the Poodle.

Health and Longevity

When you choose a Goldendoodle, you are welcoming a long-term member into your family. On average, these dogs enjoy a healthy life expectancy of 13–15 years. Because we prioritize GANA Gold Level health testing, we strive to ensure those years are vibrant and full of energy.

Lifestyle and Energy

Goldendoodles are exceptionally adaptable, making them ideal for families of all types.

  • Exercise Needs: They require a moderate amount of exercise—a daily walk, a game of fetch in the yard, or a weekend hike is usually enough to keep them happy.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Known for their intuitive "heart," they are often described as being deeply in tune with their owners' emotions, which is why they excel so naturally in therapy and service work.
  • The Perfect Partner: Whether you are looking for an active adventure partner or a calm companion for movie nights, the Goldendoodle’s versatile energy level fits seamlessly into your lifestyle.

Are Goldendoodles Hypoallergenic?

Allergies & Your Goldendoodle

One of the most common reasons families choose a Goldendoodle is the hope for a hypoallergenic companion. However, allergies are complex, and shedding is only one piece of the puzzle. Factors such as dander, saliva, proteins, and even environmental allergens carried on a dog’s coat all contribute to an individual's reaction.

Because every person’s unique set of allergies is different, we cannot guarantee that our dogs are 100% hypoallergenic. While our puppies are bred for low-to-no shed coats, we want to ensure the health and comfort of both our puppies and their forever families.

The "Baby Blanket" Test

Still concerned that you or a loved one might have a reaction? We offer a unique Baby Blanket Testing Service to help provide a bit more peace of mind.

  • How it works: We place a soft baby blanket with the litter of puppies, allowing it to be thoroughly exposed to their coats and environment.
  • The Goal: We then send the blanket to you, allowing you to spend time with it in your own home to see if any sensitivities arise.
  • A Simple Step: While not a clinical "exact science," this tactile test is a wonderful way to help put your mind at ease before making a lifelong commitment.

Arrangements & FeesIf you are interested in this service, please contact us to make arrangements.

  • Fee: $65 for the blanket, preparation, and shipping.

Goldendoodle coats and grooming

Colors, Coats, and Care

Thanks to their versatile Poodle heritage, Goldendoodles come in a stunning array of colors and patterns. At Golden Liberty, our puppies can be found in everything from solid reds and creams to artisanal Parti, Merle, and Tuxedo markings.

The "Fully Furnished" Difference

A Goldendoodle’s coat is typically classified into three types: Straight (reminiscent of the Golden Retriever), Wavy, or Curly (closer to the Poodle).

What sets our program apart is that all of our puppies—including those with straight coats—are fully furnished. This means they carry the gene responsible for the classic "Teddy Bear" facial hair (the mustache and eyebrows) and a thick, luxurious coat, making them excellent low-to-no shed companions regardless of their curl pattern.

Grooming Your Doodle

To keep your doodle’s coat healthy, soft, and mat-free, a regular grooming routine is essential. We recommend the following to keep them looking their best:

  • At-Home Maintenance: Weekly brushing is key. We suggest using a soft slicker brush paired with a high-quality detangling spray and a steel pet comb to reach the base of the coat.
  • Professional Grooming: To maintain the traditional "Doodle Cut," we recommend a professional grooming appointment every 6–8 weeks.
  • Bonding Time: Regular grooming isn't just about maintenance—it's a wonderful way to bond with your companion and keep them comfortable.

Understanding the Generations

Navigating the world of Goldendoodles often feels like learning a new language. These "F" labels describe the lineage of your puppy and help predict coat types and temperament.

The Breakdown

  • F1: A first-generation cross (50% Golden Retriever & 50% Poodle).
  • F1B: A backcross (usually an F1 Goldendoodle crossed with a Poodle). This is often the preferred choice for families with moderate-to-severe allergies.
  • F2: A second-generation cross (F1 Goldendoodle x F1 Goldendoodle).
  • Multigenerational: Both parents are Goldendoodles—specifically, at least one parent is an F1B or a Multigen.

The Golden Liberty Standard

At Golden Liberty Doodles, we focus exclusively on providing Multigenerational puppies. Why? Because it allows us to "lock in" the most desirable traits over several generations.

Our breeding strategy is designed to maintain an F1B percentage of Golden Retriever or greater. This ensures our puppies retain that iconic, soulful Golden Retriever personality and sturdy structure while benefiting from the low-to-no shed, hypoallergenic qualities of the Poodle.

By focusing on Multigenerational lines, we offer our families the highest level of consistency in size, coat quality, and temperament.

How big will my Goldendoodle get?

Finding Your Perfect Fit: Sizing

Because Goldendoodles are a blend of breeds, they come in a wonderful variety of sizes to fit every home and lifestyle. At Golden Liberty Doodles, we use the following industry-standard classifications to help you predict your puppy's adult size:

Our Size Classifications

Miniature / Moyen 14 to 17 inches              21 – 35 lbs

Our Specialized Focus

We primarily focus our program on Petite, Miniature, and Medium size puppies. Whether you need a compact travel companion for city living or a sturdy, medium-sized partner for hiking the San Diego trails, we have a litter designed for your lifestyle.

Standard Availability

While we specialize in smaller ranges, we do occasionally breed a select litter of Standards for families looking for a more substantial companion. If we do not currently have a Standard litter on our calendar, we highly recommend checking out our friends at Helix Hills Goldendoodles for their exceptional large-standard pups!
